About Global

Global Semester is a St. Olaf study abroad program concentrating on global issues that brings 28 students abroad for 1st semester and J-term at St Olaf. During these 5 months the group takes 4 month long classes in 4 different countries from local professors. During the duration of the trip the students will also take a class taught by the group leader. This year the concentration of the trip is Global Communications and is taught by our group leader Professor Bill Sonnega. The four classes will consist of Ancient History of Egypt, Religions of India, Chinese art, and Sociology in South Korea. The trip will also include a week in Geneva, Switzerland visiting the UN, a week in Turkey visiting historical sites, and our fall break for a week in Thailand.
